The Willamette Valley Lamb and Goat Series is an affordable educational event for youth exhibitors in the Willamette Valley and beyond. This two-part series is designed to provide a resource to connect young people and local breeders. Our goal is to get quality 4-H & FFA project animals into the hands of youth exhibitors and create an outlet where those youth, to learn from local breeders and industry experts.
This series takes place over 2 days. Day 1 is on Saturday, March 28th. It starts with a clinic on animal selection, nutrition and training techniques. Following the morning session, is the project lamb and goat sale. Day 2 will take place on June 20th with a hands-on clinic. This day two clinic is a hands-on clinic that focuses on showmanship. This consists both on how to get their animal show ring ready, and how to present in the show ring.
We enjoyed a very successful start to this series in 2019. We were able to offer approximately 40 animals through our sale and had approximately 75 youth in attendance. Our clinic date was also a big success with approximately 20 youth total participating. We are looking forward to continuing to grow this event and are confident that 2020 will be even better. With your support we would be able to increase the number of youths that are helped and continue to keep the cost affordable for local 4H and FFA families.
